Mixed Tape

EXPLOSIVO by Tenacious D (YouTube)

Morgan Freeman Speech from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (YouTube)

I get my best ideas in the shower.  Maybe it’s the hot water, maybe it’s the fresh mind, I don’t know.  I’ll come up with awesome new lyrics to old songs, old lyrics to new songs, entirely new of both, raps, comedy bits, and plots for porn movies.  I’ll also come up with things that I think are similar or should be together.  Like apples and bananas.  Peas and carrots.  In this case, Morgan Freeman’s speech at the end of Robin Hood spliced with Tenacious D’s Explosivo at about the 1:18 mark.

Things like this have different names.  Some people call them supercuts, others call them mash ups.  We are going to call them Mixed Tapes.  If someone smarter than me is out there and can splice these two, feel free, it will be amazing.  You might have to speed Freeman’s speech up a bit, but it will be awesome.

Also, my Dead Uncle Jim (I have three uncle Jims and he is the only one who is dead) bore a striking resemblance to Kevin Costner.  Weird, huh? When he wasn’t drinking or trying to drown me in the pool, or waiting in mid-July for New Year’s to turn over a new leaf, he was an alright guy.  Let’s pour a little out this weekend for all of our uncle Jims who looked like a celebrity and are no longer with us.

Anyway, have a great Thanksgiving.  Go Hawks, go Lions, suck it Iowa State.  Watch for my running diary of Wild Turkey Wednesday.  Next week we will have some more writers regaling you with tales of splendor.

  2. I’ll concede that I don’t really care. I like to see the Lions do well, but Holy Hell, Rogers is amazing.
